About Speaking Science

A speaker stands on stage at Speaking Science 2020. A visual of environmental activist Greta Thunberg appears on the screen behind them.

Speaking Science is a collaborative effort at the University of Minnesota to strengthen and diversify science communication skills — and build connections among systemwide #SciComm activities, initiatives, and practitioners.

Our conference, which launched in 2018, provides an immersive opportunity for UMN faculty and research staff; graduate students and postdocs; and communications professionals to exchange ideas and hone specific storytelling skill sets. This year, we’re expanding the scope of that programming to include further offerings in the following weeks, culminating with a closing/celebratory keynote in April.
