Liz Neeley: Making Sense of Modern Science Communication

We find ourselves in a paradoxical moment. Complex challenges such as climate change demand sweeping action while attention and social cohesion are increasingly fragmented. As science communicators, we know that evidence alone is not enough to achieve our goals, and we know that the forces shaping public discourse are formidable.

Science communication trailblazer Liz Neeley introduces sensemaking, a multidisciplinary approach that engages with the personal and political complexities of communicating science in this moment. Sensemaking offers a useful framework for the paradigm shift away from simply learning to present effectively toward a more holistic style of communication.
